2 News: 22 refugee projects approved

The Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, Fergus O’Dowd, told Trevor O Clochartaigh (SF, agricultural) that under the authority of the Office for the Promotion of Migrant Integration (OPMI) of the Department of Justice & Equality, Pobal had advertised for projects under the co-funded European Refugee Fund (ERF) and the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals ([European Integration Fund (EIF)], closing 20th September.  There were 27 applications under the former and 40 under the latter.  Following Pobal’s assessment, the department approved 16 EIF and six ERF projects, with grants of €1,039,445 and €442,389 respectively.  The geographical distribution of projects is Dublin, 12; Galway, 2; one each in Carlow, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Louth, Mayo and Meath (Seanad Eireann, Debates, 16th December 2013, 674-6).
