3 Appointments

New minister of state, senator

Paschal Donohoe (FG, Dublin C) was appointed Minister of State at the Departments of the Taoiseach and Foreign Affairs and Trade, with special responsibility for European affairs (Dail Eireann, Debates, 16th July 2013, 63).  This led to a change of representation on Oireachtas committees (below).

The Seanad was informed of the nomination to the Seanad by the Taoiseach of Hildegarde Naughton (FG) (Seanad Eireann, Debates, 22nd July 2013, 561). 


 Oireachtas committee changes

Committee changes followed the expulsion from the Fine Gael parliamentary party of deputies Timmins, Creighton, Matthews, Flanagan, Walsh; and senators Bradford, Healy-Eames; as well as, in the case of Sinn Fein, Peadar Toibin.  A number of other changes also took place.

Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform:  Peter Matthews and Billy Timmins replaced by Regina Doherty and Paschal Donohoe (Dail Eireann, Debates, 3rd July, 581).

Public Service Oversight and Petitions: Sean O Fearghaill and Peter Matthews replaced by Seamus Kirk, Michael Kitt and Helen McEntee.

Transport and Communications: Tom Hayes, Terence Flanagan and Brian Walsh replaced by Paudie Coffey, Helen McEntee and Brendan Griffin.

Public accounts: Paschal Donohoe replaced by Aine Collins.

European Union: Paschal Donohoe replaced by Dara Murphy; Fidelma Healy Eames replaced by Catherine Noone; James Heffernan replaced  by John Kelly.

Health & children: Denis Naughten replaced by Dan Neville

Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform: Paschal Donohoe replaced by Alan Farrell

Education & Social Protection: Fidelma Healy Eames replaced by Imelda Henry

Justice, Defence & Equality: Paul Bradford replaced by Tony Mulcahy

Environment, Culture & Gaeltacht: Catherine Noone replaced by Pat O’Neill
