Funding disability demonstration projects

The Minister of State at the Department of Health, Kathleen Lynch, reported to Sean Kyne (FG, Galway W) funding for 100 demonstration projects in residential and day disability services (Dail Eireann, Debates, 11th December 2013, 587-8).  They arose from the Value For Money (VFM) review of disability services, 2012 which envisaged migration to a person-centred model and these projects were developed by the HSE, Genio and the National Federation of Voluntary Bodies.  They would be analyzed in 2014 to determine their wider applicability and how they might be scaled up. The projects were in the area of movement from institutional care to living independently; integration into work, education and leisure; measures to build support networks; empowerment and advocacy.
