Limerick regeneration

The Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Health and Local Government, Michael Finneran, told Jan O’Sullivan (Lab, Limerick E) that the Taoiseach had announced, four days earlier, government support for the first phase implementation plan of the Limerick Regeneration Programme, with an estimated public sector investment of €337m to December 2014, to begin immediately (Dail Eireann, Debates, 22nd June 2010, 265-6).  There were 26 projects covering transport, housing, health, education and enterprise.  The programme included over 850 new and refurbished social housing units costing €160m.  An additional €10m would be made available for the regeneration programme this year, bringing the department’s investment to €35m in 2010.
