National minimum wage down

The Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, Dara Calleary, told Michael D Higgins (Lab, Galway W) that the order to reduce the minimum wage had been signed on 18th January and would come into effect on 1st February.  The wage would be reduced to €7.65, but would still be in the top tier of European Union states and 12% higher than the equivalent rate in Britain  (Dail Eireann, Debates, 19th January 2011, 169 – 170).
