Regeneration and housing improvement

The Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government, Jan O’Sullivan, gave details of government investment in housing improvement and regeneration (Dail Eireann, Debates, 19th June 2012, 240-1). In 2011, the government had given €145m to the local authorities, of which €90m went to regeneration in Dublin, Limerick and Cork and some regional towns.  €27m was supplied for 45 estate remedial works, with €10m for extensions and adaptations and €18m for energy efficiency.  In 2012, 2,600 units would be refurbished and made available for re-letting.
