2011 European year of volunteering
The Minister for Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs, Pat Carey, told Sean Barrett (FG, Dun Laoghaire) that Volunteering Ireland had been appointed national coordinator for Ireland’s participation in 2011 European year of volunteering ( (Dail Eireann, Debates, 11th May 2010, 529). It was now bringing together a steering committee drawn from the voluntary and community sector and state representatives. Volunteering Ireland was required to consult with civil society, national agencies and contact points of community programmes.
