Centre for Effective Services

Following questions about the role of the Centre for Effective Services in Oireachtas Brief 5, the Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs Pat Carey responded to further enquiries from Ciaran Lynch (Lab, Cork SC) (Dail Eireann, Debates, 1st July 2010, 441-3, 427-8).  The minister told him that ten staff were now employed by the centre, with three people on a temporary or freelance basis, with one person on secondment from the Office for the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, with a staff member from the Health Service Executive expected later this year and his department releasing a number of staff there on a part-time basis.

He also understood that since its establishment in late 2008, the CES had many contacts with the voluntary and community sector, with several hundred contacts and meetings ranging from phone conversations to face-to-face meetings to intensive consultations and collaborations.  The profile of organizations, projects, initiatives and persons contacted and met was very diverse and included very large organizations and small local projects in the child, family and community fields.
