Child contact centres

Asked about the One Family report The need for child contact centres in Ireland, the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald told Simon Harris (FG, Wicklow) that preparations for a pilot project, to be operated by Barnardos, were at an advanced stage and due to start by end October 2011 (Dail Eireann, Debates, 20th September 2011, 1100-1).  Funding will be provided by her department, the Health Service Executive, the Family Support Agency and Ballymun Regeneration.  A single contact centre would be established for the Dublin north city and south city, with referrals from social care professionals and the courts system.  This was a pilot project, so it would be a learning exercise and a monitoring system would be put in place.
