Combat Poverty Agency

Sean Kyne (FG, Galway W) asked about progress in the former areas of competence of the Combat Poverty Agency that were transferred into the Department of Social Protection in 2009 (Dail Eireann, Debates, 26th June 2012, 190-1).  The minister, Joan Burton, told him that the new social inclusion division played a key role in coordinating government policies against poverty and in the past six months had convened the Social Inclusion Forum, produced the Social Inclusion Report, led the review of the national poverty target and published new research on childhood deprivation, convening a national conference with key stakeholders and supported a summer school at University College Cork on conceptualizing and measuring poverty.
