Community Employment to Social Protection

Later, the Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, told Aengus O Snodaigh (SF, Dublin SC) that policy and responsibility for Community Employment (CE) under FAS had transferred to her department on 1st January (Dail Eireann, Debates, 13th April 2011, 167-8). FAS remained responsible for its day-to-day operation under a service agreement between the two. FAS was committed to providing a thousand special CE projects under the National Drugs Strategy and it was her intention to continue such projects subject to overall budget constraints.
