Dormant accounts: €5.456m 2014

The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan told Eamon O Cuiv (FF, Galway W) and John Browne (FF, Wexford) that the dormant accounts allocation for 2014 would be €5.456m, of which €3.45m would be current spending and €2.006 capital  (Dail Eireann, Debates, 23rd October 2013, 536).   This would be spent on labour force activation measures and a modest action plan.  2013 spending was €6.385m, including €2.835m for labour force activation measures in the local authorities.  The current balance of uncommitted funds was €120.6m (the minister did not explain the small allocation compared to the uncommitted balance – ed).
