Funding for emigrants; Peace IV programme

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Eamon Gilmore, told Brendan Smith (FF, Cavan Monaghan) that his department had received 360 applications for projects from 16 countries during the 2013 round of funding for voluntary services (Dail Eireann, Debates, 18th April 2013, 111).  Funding was €11.59m, the same as 2012.  Announcements would be made in the coming weeks.

Brendan Smith was informed by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin, that the EU had proposed to allocate €150m for the Peace IV programme (Dail Eireann, Debates, 18th April 2013, 141).   Final approval by the European institutions was awaited and in the meantime the Special EU Programmes Body was planning the new programme through public consultation, ex ante evaluation and strategic environmental assessments.
