Funding for Irish emigrants; reconciliation

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Eamon Gilmore, told John Browne (FF, Wexford) that grant-aid for services for Irish emigrants abroad was €11.93m in 2010, €11.57m in 2011, €11.59m in 2012 and was kept at that level for 2013.  This year, there were 360 applications from 17 countries.  The 2013 round, which closed 20th February, was focussed on frontline welfare and advisory services and new arrivals (Dail Eireann, Debates, 28th March 2013, 398).

Separately, he told Billy Kelleher (FF, Cork NC) that funding for projects for reconciliation and against sectarianism was €3m in 2010,  €3m in 2011 and €2.7m in 2012 (Dail Eireann, Debates, 28th March 2013, 403).  The first 2013 round was underway, with decisions in May; while the second round would close 27th September.
