Funding for waste and recycling by voluntary and community groups

The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan, told Joanna Tuffy (Lab, Dublin MW) that he would shortly announce the 2011 fund for small-scale, local environmental projects for waste reduction, recycling and public awareness under the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund.  The programme was introduced in 1997 and in 2010 supported 448 projects with €305,000 (Dail Eireann, Debates, 22nd September 2011, 381).  Organizations should apply to their local authority for this fund and it was also open to them to apply for support for similar projects from the 36 local development companies under the 2007-2013 Local Development Programme and to County and City Enterprise Boards.
