Incomplete housing

The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Eamon O Cuiv, gave details to Bernard Durkan (FG, Kildare N) of incomplete housing (sometimes called the ‘NAMA houses’ – ed) (Dail Eireann, Debates, 27th January 2011, 911).  The minister told him that these figures, taken from the National Housing Development Survey database, were informing the high level expert group on unfinished housing developments established November 2010.  The survey covered 180,000 housing units with planning permission in 2,846 developments.  120,000 had begun or progressed, while 60,000 had not started.  Of the 120,000 homes, 77,000 were complete and occupied, 23,000 were complete and vacant; 10,000 were nearly complete and 10,000 at various stages.
