Lottery funding in Department of Children & Youth Affairs

The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald, gave details to Paschal Donohoe (FG, Dublin Central) of her department’s scheme for National Lottery funding for 2012 (Dail Eireann, Debates, 25th September 2012, 148) (this is the original Department of Health and Children National Lottery fund, part of which went to the new department for children and youth affairs in 2011.  They are the only self-contained national departmental lottery funds to which one may apply directly – ed).  Provision in 2012 was €500,000 with a closing date of 28th September and 188 groups had applied for a total funding of over €5m.  These were being assessed at present and it would clearly not be possible to assist all applications.  Three had been awarded so far and the remaining applicants would be informed in due course.  Those approved were:

Dine Garda Youth Diversion Project, Hardwicke st, Dublin 1, €4,500

CARI, Drumcondra, Dublin 9, €30,000 and

Adamstown Summer Camp, Lucan, co Dublin, €3,000.
