National Lottery funding

The Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, gave details to Sean Fleming (FF, Laois Offaly) of the allocations of the national lottery to government funding (Dail Eireann, Debates, 24th May 2011, 110-111).  The total amount of lottery money transferred to government spending heads was €200m in 2006, €230m in 2007, €265m in 2008, €275m in 2009 and €250m in 2010.

Asked about the lottery grant in the Department of Health and Children, the minister there, Dr James Reilly told him that the allocation to his department was €3.9m in 2007, €3.9m in 2008, €3.9m in 2009, €3.7m in 2010 and €3.786m in 2011, of which €1.007m had already been paid out.  Of the €2.778m remaining, €400,000 was in an advanced stage of finalization, while 350 applications were being assessed.  Lottery allocations were also made to the HSE, in whose distribution he was not directly involved,  the amounts being €7.3m in 2007 and €7.513m in each year 2008 to 2011 (Dail Eireann, Debates, 24th May 2011, 249).
