Scandinavian model of childcare interdepartmental group
The Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, responded to a question from Michael Martin (FF, Cork SC) about her department’s progress toward a Scandinavian model of childcare (Dail Eireann, Debates, 12th June 2012, 210-1). She told him that an interdepartmental group, chaired by her department and comprising the departments of Education & Skills and Children & Youth Affairs had been established to examine the provision of school-age childcare. The group was initially assessing the needs and provision for lone parents.
