State agencies

In the continuing work of government in reconfiguring state agencies, the Minister for Justice and Equality, Alan Shatter told Simon Harris (FG, Wicklow) that the Family Mediation Service had been integrated with the Legal Aid Board on 2nd November 2011 (Dail Eireann, Debates, 8th November 2011, 925).  Work was under way to subsume the Office of the Refugee Applications Commissioner with the Irish Naturalization and Immigration Service and to replace the Refugee Appeals Tribunal with the Protection Review Tribunal.  Legislation was being prepared to amalgamate the Human Rights Commission and the Equality Authority as the new Integrated Human Rights and Equality Commission by February 2012.  The government was also considering merging the Equality Tribunal with other employment rights bodies in the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Employment.
